- 1/01-10/02: Technical Writer, ATOGA Systems. ATOGA Systems is a leading-edge
producer of Optical Applications Routers for metropolitan area networks.
Updated the hardware and software User Guides, working as part of a
two-person team. Developed the online help for their browser-based network
management software, using RoboHelp. Designed and wrote the user guide
for the newest generation of network management software. Developed
the style guide, procedures manual, and internal Web site for the Tech
Pubs department. Updated the public Web site, www.atoga.com.
- 3/99-8/00: Technical Writer, Ross Systems, Inc. Updated user manuals
of 1000+ pages for an HR and payroll system, incorporating two years'
worth of updates and corrections. Created a 180+ page intranet knowledge
base providing technical information and support to customers. Created
popup text and online help for a new, browser-based version of the software.
- 8/98-12/00: Web Producer, SparrowHawk Press. Maintain three magazine
Web sites: Piano & Keyboard, Herb Quarterly, and The Needleworker. URL:
www.sparrowhawkpress.com.
- Intranet programmer and forms editor for Etec Systems. Created new
forms, and edited existing forms, for use at Etec Systems, a high-tech
manufacturing company. Translated the forms into HTML and PDF formats
for use on the company intranet. Researched techniques for creating
the best screenshots and graphics.
- Web Producer, Needleworker Press. Created and continue to maintain

- Web Producer, Kooler Design Studio. Created the company's initial
Web site.
- Technical writer, Digital Persona. Created two User Guides, on-line
help text, and a technical manual for the company's first product, a
fingerprint recognition system.
- Technical writer, DHL Worldwide Express. Created an installation guide,
a quick reference guide, a product overview, and an operations manual,
and edited the on-line help, for a new Web browser-based software program
at DHL .
- Instructor, East Bay chapter of the STC. Created and delivered hands-on
training: "Introduction to Web Authoring with HTML."
- Technical writer, Pacific Bell. Created user guides for six different
audiences for Pacific Bell's Digital Subscriber Line service.
- Technical writer, Visa International, updating several manuals for
the stored value smart card. Architect of the Business Publications
Department section of the Visa intranet. Created a hierarchy of pages
about the group's services, which explains the group to the rest of
the organization.
- Technical writer for a major software conversion project at Safeway.
Developed 21 quick reference guides, 12 user manuals, and 10 instructor
and participant training guides for an upgraded Safeway software system.
Scheduled and supervised the work of one other writer and three word
processors. Managed the work of 15 Subject Matter Experts. Coordinated
the development of training databases. Conducted train-the-trainer sessions.
